Creation of the first «Design Lab» in Greece

The internationally renowned designer and innovation consultant Dimitris Skourogiannis visited Alexandroupolis at the invitation of the Chamber of Evros. The purpose of the visit was to make exploratory contacts in order to develop the first “Design Lab” in Greece.

Statement by the President of the Chamber of Evros on the action:
“The programme ATHENS 2021-2025 (Investment in Knowledge) of the Chamber has as its main objective the strengthening of the position of the Prefecture of Evros in the knowledge economy. The action of the Design Lab can offer a broadening of the development perspective and connect the wider region with new capacities of perception for managing the demanding modern world”.

Statement by the head of the Design Lab :
“I consider it particularly important that in this considered marginal part of the country, a creative effort is supported that can only lead to a more positive result for the sectors of economy, education, culture, and social development in general. It is particularly encouraging that in the first contacts with important businesses in the region, a real interest in synergy has been expressed. The Design Lab is a partnership of two non-profit organizations and will be housed in the innovation-friendly structure of the Evros Chamber, Light Hub”.

The Athena 2021-2025: Investing in Knowledge programme, implemented by the Evros Chamber of Commerce, aims to strengthen the position of Evros in the knowledge economy by providing information, education and connectivity. Until 2025, educational programmes, on-site activities to promote local products, business missions and partnerships with research institutions and universities will be carried out. In addition, the action plans to host young scientists from abroad for the exchange of knowledge, initially by the Chamber of Evros and progressively by the companies participating in the pilot programme.
