The Evros Chamber of Commerce leads the creation of a cross-border accelerator

The Evros Chamber of Commerce and the American University of Bulgaria are joining forces and collaborating to create a single integrated business accelerator (SEA) that will serve the entire cross-border region of Greece and Bulgaria. On Saturday 19 February, at 17:00 at the Ramada Plaza Thraki Hotel, an information event (info-day) will be held, where the project and its objectives will be presented.

The project will create modern infrastructure and tools. A new co-working space in Alexandroupolis will serve as a centre for the development of business initiatives, while an equipped neuromarketing laboratory will allow a scientific approach to the development of new products and services for the beneficiaries of the program.

The idea and concept of this project emerged in several phases. The basic idea was developed by the main beneficiary – Evros Chamber of Commerce – and the American University in Bulgaria (American University in Bulgaria-AUBG), in order to leverage their existing business support structures and services. With the help of a team of professionals in the field of business guidance and consulting from Bulgaria and Greece (coming from the Business Information and Consulting Center (BICC), the Institute for Technology Development and Human Resources (IATAP) and YET (Youth | Entrepreneurship | Education | Technology) developed the idea of creating a single integrated business accelerator (SEA) serving the entire cross-border region of Greece and Bulgaria.

The SEA project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund and the national funds of the countries participating in the Interreg V-A Cooperation Program “Greece-Bulgaria 2014-2020”.

The President of the Evros Chamber of Commerce Mr. Christodoulos Topsidis said about the project:

“The Evros Chamber of Commerce has gained significant experience in supporting business initiatives and has already created the Light Hub, which offers a very structured and effective start-up support program. What we have noticed is that there is a relatively large number of people with entrepreneurial potential who need a different approach. SEA offers exactly that. It is a lobby which gives the very basic skills to develop a sustainable business. People trying to start a business, particularly in their early stages are ‘swimming against the current’ and we as Chambers need to be there with tailored tools and guidance.”
